Our backs to the sun

What do I want? What do I need?
Mostly where can I find it?
The summer sun tells me
Another year is past

Leaves will fall as flowers wilt
Sweet breezes now chilling
The sadest part is that
The blue skies won't last, can never last

So cold as the sun fades away
So cold, as I watch you walk away
You ride in with the flowers
And out on the tails of wind
So cold, you never wanted it
So cold

Where is my sweetness?
Where is my joy?
Girl, you always leave me with the sun
Why is my rose-tinted world dark and gray

Showing face with the summer
Then putting your back to the sun
Though my dependency is strong
The brightness in this world will never stay

So cold as the sun fades away
So cold, as I watch you walk away
You ride in with the flowers
And out on the tails of wind
So cold, you never wanted it
So cold
